Occupational Therapy Services

Sharon is a qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). She is able to use formal and informal assessment measures in order to gain a detailed understanding of each child’s functional needs. This can then be followed by therapy sessions if indicated and desired.

Sharon can assess and provide therapy for children and young people who experience difficulties in the areas of:

  • Fine motor skills, including handwriting
  • Gross motor skills
  • Sensory processing (SIPT administered)
  • Coordination
  • Emotional regulation
  • Social participation
  • Self-Care tasks, including dressing, feeding, sleeping etc.

One of our Speech and Language Therapists is trained in the ‘SOS Approach to Feeding’ and is able to offer advice, assessment and/or treatment regarding this, in liaison with the team, as part of a wider sensory approach.

They are able to provide assessments and therapy at our centre, at home, and/or at the child’s nursery/school. They accept referrals directly from parents, and/or from Local Authorities, schools and nurseries, and can provide contracts for the latter. They are able to provide training for professionals and parents.

They can provide detailed reports for Statutory Assessment and Education and Health Care Plans if required.
